2975 P25 Radio Test Set

2975 P25 Radio Test Set is the latest test solution designed from the ground up to handle today’s advanced communications applications.

  • “Try Before You Buy" test options
  • Internet “Virtual Instrumentation”
  • PassPortR testing option
  • P25 Trunking options
  • Project 25 parametric, protocol and Common Air Interface testing
  • Exclusive C4FM EVM meter reports the frequency error and deviation at symbol time in addition to the modulation fidelity error

Full-Featured Communications Service Monitor

While the 2975 pushes testing technology to a higher level, we didn’t forget about the basics. For complete transmitter spectrum performance testing, swept antenna and transmission line testing and at-a-glance troubleshooting, the 2975 comes standard with a digitized 2.7 GHz spectrum analyzer and dual-channel digital storage oscilloscope. Then, with the functionality of over 20 discrete instruments integrated into a single platform, the 2975 provides all the tools you need to perform comprehensive RF testing for AM/FM and P25 radio systems.

  • “Click and Tune” spectrum analyzer mode (use your mouse to click and tune signals)
  • RF Receive / Generate with full cross band Duplex Operation
  • C4FM / FM / AM modulation and demodulation
  • RF Power / Frequency / Frequency Error / Distortion / SINAD / AF Level / Voltage Meters
  • Oscilloscope markers easily set and verify amplitude and frequency parameters of audio signals

High Tech Testing That’s Decidedly Simple To Use

Building advanced functionality into a test instrument means little if it’s too complex to use efficiently. That’s why we’ve focused considerable resources on ensuring the 2975’s advanced functions are easily harnessed.

Man-Machine Interface

The high-resolution color display and alphanumeric keypad with multi-task soft keys provide the foundation of a user-friendly interface. Then we re-thought our menu structure to make even the most complex test routines simple and straightforward. We also included a UUT test port for automated radio testing.

“Try Before You Buy” for Most 2975 Test Set Options

Owners of 2975 test sets can try most 2975 options for up to 30 days before making an investment decision. Once the choice is made, the options can be enabled in the field.

Options for the 2975 radio test set include:

  • Explicit Messaging option supports explicit messaging for trunked VHF/UHF radio systems that use this extended messaging for the latest P25 trunking systems.
  • Audio Analyzer Option comes with a Stimulus Signal function to generate pseudo-random bandwidth-limited noise and sine (x)/x (sinc) for audio system performance and six markers for measuring signal levels.
  • LTR? Trunking Option provides support for mobile and repeater simulation mode for LTR? trunked systems.
  • Advanced Encryption System (AES) Option includes support for higher security features as well as continued support for the current Digital Encryption System (DES) Type III used in existing P25 systems.
  • Encryption Key Management Option provides the ability to fully manage keys via the KVL-3000+ using the P25 key management protocol.
  • Linear Simulcast Modulation? Option with both transmitter and receiver tests allows the 2975 to support parametric measurements for repeater tests utilizing CQPSK modulation for LSM applications.
  • VHF/UHF P25 Trunking Option provides capability for new system deployment utilizing P25 technology in existing VHF/UHF band for public mobile radio applications. The 2975 also can be configured with a P25 Trunking option that enables it to test P25 trunked radios in the 800 MHz band.
  • SmartNet?/SmartZone? Option provides innovative ways to test trunked radio systems including a "scanner" mode that allows the user to follow a call from the control channel to the voice channel.

Enhanced Channel Logging Capabilities

Software version 1.8.2 and higher enhances the 2975’s ability to log control channel and conventional P25 messages at any frequency and then display the ray symbols, the octets and then the actual information at the message level. These messages include: OSP Control Channel Messages, ISP Control Channel Message and LCO Conventional Messages.

Remote Testing Capability and P25 Trunking Option

Using the instrument’s exclusive ethernet connection, the 2975 can be assigned a specific Internet Protocol (IP) address, creating a “virtual” instrument that can be redirected to a remote user for monitoring and testing purposes.

SCCB Messaging Option

The 2975 now optionally supports the Secondary Control Channel Broadcast message for either explicit or normal P25 trunked operation. The addition of this feature allows the user to set up simulated control channels to verify how P25 radios switch over to secondary control channels. The explicit mode supports one additional control channel and the implicit mode supports two additional control channels.

Adjacent Status Broadcast Messaging

The 2975 now optionally supports the Adjacent Channel Broadcast message for explicit P25 trunked operation. The addition of this feature allows the user to set up a simulated adjacent control channel to verify how P25 radios switch over to adjacent control channels in roaming modes.
